What is the best type of hay for Rabbits?
- One key consideration for selecting the best food for your Rabbit is the energy/calorie requirements specific to your Rabbit. For most adult rabbits Timothy, Dryland Timothy or other grass hay types are a great choice given its high fiber and mid-level protein/calcium content. For young growing rabbits, pregnant rabbits, or even some older rabbits that need a higher calorie/energy content meal Alfalfa Hay can be a great choice. Alfalfa can also be a great supplement in small quantities for adult rabbits. How long will hay last?
- The two primary factors in hay degrading in quality are sunlight and moisture. We package our hay inside a durable resealable bag to keep out moisture, and then place it into a durable box for shipping and storage. This moisture and sun protection will keep your hay fresh for as long as you need it!
